A year of stories about change, one month at a time
I’m happy to share one of my most recent projects: the full illustration of the 2027 Planner for Altroconsumo created in collaboration with Terre di mezzo Editore.
Altroconsumo is one of Italy’s leading consumer organizations, and every year it publishes a planner for its members.
The 2027 edition is built around twelve original stories by different authors. Each one tells of people and organizations that generate concrete social change, in areas such as sustainability, the circular economy, health, and solidarity.
My task was to give those stories a visual identity. I created the cover and a set of original illustrations that open each month, interpreting each story and accompanying it through the year.
Illustrating a story about real people and real change calls for a particular kind of care. The images had to be warm, hopeful and engaging, and to carry the optimism of the stories.
They also had to work as a series, with a recognizable visual language holding the twelve months together while leaving each story its own character.
Some topics were particularly delicate and required a special effort on my part to represent them in an expressive—rather than didactic—way. To achieve this, I relied on my own symbolic language, employing visual metaphors that are both powerful and delicate.
The agenda is a practical object that people use every day: a weekly planner of 192 pages (150×230 mm) with plenty of room for notes, a page for tracking income and expenses, reflections and prompts, an inner pocket, and an elastic band.
Knowing that the illustrations would live in something people open daily, and carry around for a whole year, made the project even more rewarding!
I was especially glad to work on this agenda because every purchase supports Altroconsumo’s Impegnati a cambiare (“Committed to Change”) campaign. It was a pleasure to contribute to something that talks about hope, the future, and community.
The planner is available on Altroconsumo’s website (in Italian).
